A Tribute to Norwegian Design and Art - LK Hjelle

A Tribute to Norwegian Design and Art

LK Hjelle launches the Less sofa with artistic textile by Magne Furuholmen.

When a sofa meets a work of art, something magical happens.
LK Hjelle now presents a special edition of the Less sofa, designed by Lars Tornøe, upholstered in an exclusive textile developed in collaboration with artist Magne Furuholmen. The textile is produced by the traditional Norwegian weaving mill Innvik, and the project is curated by design curator Cathrine Edwards.

Less is known for its clean lines, thoughtful construction, and uncompromising comfort – a sofa that proves less really can be more.

Now, it takes on a new dimension through the textile, which clearly reflects Furuholmen’s distinctive visual language. An expression that gives the sofa both character and depth.

“It is rare to have the opportunity to collaborate across art, craftsmanship, and furniture design like this. The textile is not just a surface; it’s a bearer of meaning and artistic content.”

– Cathrine Edwards

The textile has been developed and produced at Innvik, whose long experience and technical expertise have made it possible to transfer Furuholmen’s art into a woven fabric. The process has required close collaboration and precision from all involved, and the result is something truly unique.

“It is often in meeting other crafts and knowledge beyond my own that my artistry is enriched.”

The launch of Less with this new textile marks an important milestone in LK Hjelle’s ongoing mission to highlight Norwegian collaborations and local production. It’s a celebration of what happens when art, design, and craftsmanship come together – to create something that resonates, and that lasts.

The sofa will be presented during this year’s 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, as part of the Inside Norway exhibition at Framing, Bredgade 28, from June 18–20.

It comes in two distinctive textile designs, developed by Magne Furuholmen, and features a custom-stained wooden frame that highlights the artistic expression of the piece.

The sofa is produced in a limited edition.
