Sculptural presence
Gaia is a sofa with a quiet, sculptural presence. Designed to stand freely in the room and work beautifully from every angle. Immediate in both form and function, it invites relaxed seating and conversation. The comfort is soft and inclusive, easy and familiar, like a favorite college sweatshirt -allowing for multiple ways of sitting, including on the armrests and back.
Soft stone
The working title for Gaia was “soft stone” – a sofa with a calm, sculptural expression and an informal, approachable comfort. Designed to be easy to live with, easy to understand and simple to care for, Gaia is built with an open and logical construction that supports repair, reuse and a lower environmental footprint throughout its life cycle.
“As easy to live with as it is to look at, Gaia balances comfort, design and sustainability in a natural way. Together with Innvik, we developed a textile that makes the overall expression both beautiful and responsible,” says designer Andreas Engesvik.
